Which way to the yacht, Muffy?

Last weekend Nikki came over to meet the boys...she is going to be watching G. for a couple of months until he starts school. It was a lazy morning, so none of us were in our finest attire, but Ben was wearing a t-shirt sporting what I think might have been meatball stains (we had a lot of yummy appetizers for the football game), so I suggested maybe he change. Below is what he came down in.

And this was Ben on a slide in Rhode Island (he was trying to show G how to slide, but ultimately we decided we would wait and have him try that when he was a bit bigger...

Yes, G, this is your father. We love him. Never a dull moment!

Go Bears!

We had a good time watching the Bears' pre-season win last weekend. G is excited for tomorrow's game and the regular season, and has the gear to make it through.
In case you didn't know this was a Bears onesie, it says "football" on G's bootie

Griffin pleased with the play, Daddy indifferent.

If Mom and Dad's big heads are any indication, G will soon fill out his throwback helmet.

Grandpa Tom, khakis and a polo do not count as Bears gear!

G telling daddy what he thinks of Cutler

Griffin Pucci, Esquire?

Grandma Kris and Grandpa Tom got me this shirt a long time ago, and I can finally fit into it (though, the way I am [not] liking my solid food lately maybe it should read "will litigate to get that food far, far away from my face, please")! My mommy and daddy, however, have decided that they are going to encourage me to steer away from the legal field when I grow up (they said they like the sound of Dr. Griffin Pucci much better!?!)....this tactic may, or may not, work - but they are going to make their best efforts!
As a side note, Grandma Kris says I am going to be a bodybuilder because I am always practicing my "muscle moves"...so, maybe it won't be Dr. Pucci nor G. Pucci, Esquire........but instead, the Puccinator? Only time will tell!

First Attempt at Rice Cereal

This morning was our first attempt at rice cereal...not exactly a success, as you can see from the look on his face. We will try again tonight, maybe when he is a little more awake and in a better mood. I can't believe my little guy is becoming such a big boy!

And, on the sleeping front, we were all prepared and strong-willed last night to begin the cry-it-out process....but we did not have to, as there was not much going on in the crying department. G went down at 9 (woke at 6am) and I was only up a couple of times with him during the night -- no real "crying" even happened. Maybe it was a fluke...maybe G listened to the doctor yesterday and realized that no food was coming his way at night anymore so he decided to give up asking...or maybe it was an off-day due to his shots and tylenol. In any event, I was thankful for a little more sleep and I'm hopeful that this is a sign of more peaceful nights to come!

Four Months Old - !

As mentioned in a previous post, Griffin recently turned the big 4...months old, that is. We went to the doctor yesterday...and it was a big appointment. Stats-wise, G is 17 lbs and 25.5 inches long (again, this measurement is a complete guess, in my opinion, based on the method...but I've expressed that (also in a previous post) so I won't mention it again). He remains in the 75th-90th percentile for both (his head circumference is around the 50th percentile).
We were able to ask Dr. Fell the pressing questions (set forth in a bulleted list) about our little guy (item one: when will he sleep at night!?!?!?). Griffin decided to show Dr. Fell his new trick throughout the appointment (yelling/shrieking for fun/excitement)...causing Dr. Fell to note that he really vocalized well, and clearly liked to hear his own voice (more and more like Ben each day?). The reason it was a big appointment was that, when asked about G's night sleeping issues, Dr. Fell clearly stated: "He's 17 pounds. He can sleep through the night." And since he doesn't, we were told that he is now old enough to let him cry (Ferber/cry-it-out/interval method). No one is too excited about that, but if it gets us sleep at night sometime soon, we are certainly going to put in the work!
Otherwise, Dr. Fell said G was doing great -- developing well, growing well (quite obviously) and all of the good stuff. He got his shots (which mommy hated) and then we were off to Babies R Us to buy some new toys, bowls, and some rice cereal. That's right, solids: here we come...we started this morning! Below are some four-month old pics.

G and his Mickey

His hands are constantly in his mouth...always chewing, chewing, chewing!

Just waking up (mommy thinks I'm especially cute when I am waking up)

Congrats Kayla and Eric!

Congratulations to Kayla and Eric (this is a belated post, as they were married July 25th). The wedding was a blast, and the pictures that we just got are great! Griffin was the official ringbearer, though mommy carried him down the aisle with the rings in her pocket. :) He was such a good boy all weekend, save for the massive amount of spit up all over he and I right before we went down the aisle, and right after I removed the bib that protected his [white] shirt.

Kayla & Eric just recently returned from their honeymoon in Ireland and are preparing to move mountains of "stuff" out East (we do not envy them in that task)! Good luck you two!On a side note, G is turning four months old tomorrow (unbelievable as it may be). He is SUCH a happy baby and is always laughing, smiling, and making new noises. G is still not a great sleeper, and every night is a new adventure. Perhaps he just wants to spend as much time as possible with his mommy and daddy, so he feels that he must see one of us [multiple] times each night, or perhaps he just looooves to eat...who knows. It's certainly a challenge...but he HAS slept through the night (once) without a peep so I know it is possible. I honestly believe that when G is 10 years old I will have to get up at 2 am, nightly, to fix him a peanut butter and jelly.

One of his newest tricks is making raspberries, which is easy and fun to do considering the gallons of drool coming out of his little mouth each day. We assume that teeth are in the works.

No Caption Necessary

As per a previous post, we recently attended Chad and Adriana's wedding in Rhode Island. Their photographer, Joshua Behan, has a blog where he posts snippets of his work. Chad's mom, Cathy, sent Ben the link. There are only a few pics from Chad's wedding posted...one of which is the above. This pic pretty much sums up our night (and the fun we had). The sunglasses are Ben's, the wrap is mine (we traded and I wore Ben's tie) and the beers are likely both of ours. Hey, it had been a while since we had a babysitter and a ride home!
